The omaps.io story began in 2021, when we realised that selling orienteering maps was stuck in the past. Opportunities for self-guided orienteering had grown, but getting hold of maps was still a hassle for buyers and sellers alike. Our philosophy is that heading out to orienteer should be as easy as going to the gym. That's how the idea of omaps.io was born: a modern online shop that makes buying and selling maps quick and easy.

Behind the idea was also our own passion for mapmaking and orienteering, especially in new and exotic places. We wanted travelling to a new place to no longer mean a struggle to find a course to run. We also wanted to use the service to make orienteering possible in places that don't yet have an active orienteering community or a local orienteering culture.

Launched in 2022, our service has grown quickly and on its way to reaching the goals we set: buying and selling maps has been brought into the present day, and maps are available all around the world. Even so, we're only just getting started - there's still plenty to orienteer across the world, and we are here to make it possible!
